Founded in 1945 as a radio repair shop by Walter Pepperl and Ludwig Fuchs, Pepperl+Fuchs quickly expanded. By 1948, it ventured into other electronic production, resulting in the development of the first proximity switch and transistor amplifier with an intrinsically safe control circuit in 1958.

This isolated barrier serves intrinsic safety purposes. It facilitates the transfer of digital signals from NAMUR sensors or dry contacts situated in hazardous zones to non-hazardous areas.

A proximity sensor or mechanical contact regulates the load on the control side of a relay contact output. The output of the device toggles its state whenever the input signal changes.

Operational modes can be inverted, and line fault detection can be disabled through switches. In the event of a fault, the relay returns to its de-energized state, and the LEDs display the fault in accordance with NAMUR NE 44 standards.

When the device is powered by a Power Rail, an additional collective error message becomes accessible.
